Team Ohio Wrestling parents, fans, wrestlers, are you ready for another round? With the first event out of the way, the Team Ohio 6th and 8th-grade teams are set to scrap again. This next event is set to be another excellent trial for these young teams. The team is heading over into “Manheim, PA” for the weekend. Tyrant Wrestling is hosting “The Columbus Day Duals”. The teams battled tough in Wheeling, W.V. and I think it was a great experience for all that went to get to know one another and to form as a “Team”. Both squads battled extremely tough and came home with some hardware. The 6th-grade squad came home with a 3rd place plaque and the 8th-grade team finished in 4th based on criteria. Regardless, this is a new weekend and a new event. Another opportunity to develop as individual wrestlers and as a team. As each event comes and goes this season we will all see the strides that each and everyone has taken to grow and become a better overall wrestler. I think with already having some competition under the belt for these teams, we can expect to see some excellent wrestling. Each wrestler has had a little bit more time to train and compete. It is now the month of October and the season is right now upon us. I think the goal should certainly be to bring home some more hardware for the State of Ohio. What an amazing opportunity this is for all of these young wrestlers to be able to represent their state on one of the largest stages! I cannot wait to see what the results are from this upcoming weekend’s competition.
For the sixth grade team, we have so many tough young individuals. The Columbus Day Duals are set to be another round of stiff competition. Some of the absolute best teams from around the country will be here to compete. Some of these teams will be in the pool tournament we have already run into and competed against. The Mat Assassins of PA, for example, will be here, along with 84 Athletes, and Cimarron. Some of these teams we have already defeated. This however means nothing because this is a new weekend and a new tournament. Team Ohio 6th grade has to go out and prove their worth once again! I am very confident that Team Ohio 6th Grade is going to come out guns blazing and ready to rock! Who will we see come out from this weekend as the standout or MVP? Will we continue to see brilliance from young “Lyric”? Will she continue her dominance against the boys? Will she be hitting spladels and broomsticks? We can only hope she continues her streak of amazing wrestling. The other hard hitters on this roster, Urijah Lopez & The Bagdonas Brothers will look to lead the team. Each and every wrestler on this squad has the same exact opportunity to be “The Lead Point Scorer”. The best part of wrestling is that we all get to compete, we all get to be a part of a team. I think that since there has already been one event under their belt, that we will see a vastly improved team here at The Columbus Day Duals.
More 6th Grade Information for this Event:
Saturday there will be 4 pools of 6 (5 matches) and then Sunday there will be 6 pools of 4 (3 matches).
The 8th Grade Squad has the exact opportunity as the 6th grade, the chance to come home with hardware. This is another opportunity to get better. A couple of weeks in between “Battle in The Burgh” and now the Columbus Day Duals have given each wrestler the time to train even more and to fully prepare for this scrap session. Just like the 6th-grade squad, this team is stacked from top to bottom. The top wrestlers from the state of Ohio are here. Who will get the MVP this weekend? Last event, Nathan Attisano was the MVW. Will Nathan lead the way again this weekend? Or will there be another member of the team that steps up? Whenever there is a chance to get bonus points, it must be done. I know these boys all know how to play their part and they all do it very well! These boys are all great at getting their teammates ready to rock and step out onto the mat. They all huddle up and send each other out there to wrestle. They are certainly going to be wrestling some great teams here. Some of the teams in the pool are going to be teams that beat them over in Wheeling. For example, Team 922 is an absolute hammer of a team. They will also be in Manheim. Mat Assassins, PA Alliance, Cimarron, and a tough “Team Nauman” will be here. Some of these PA Teams are so stacked that literally every single team point is going to count. Being back here in Ohio we all will be rooting you on and we can’t wait to see the results. We know that you will all represent Ohio well and proudly! You can track the event through “Track Wrestling” and I will post the link here as well where to find information out on the pool brackets. Best of luck to our teams this weekend! Go scrap and get after it!
