There were originally 4 in each weight class advancing to State to form a State bracket of 20 wrestlers.
2001
The 78lbs. weight class was added to make 16 weights
2003
Increase to 6 Districts and the number of qualifiers at each District was increased to 5 to form a State bracket of 30
2005
Increased the NE and SW District to qualify top 6 (other 4- top 5) based on having the higher number of entries. This brought the State bracket from 30 wrestlers to 32 wrestlers
2009
Increase the number of Districts to 8. Also, 2 weight classes were added (78 and 209) increasing the number of weight classes from 16 to 18 and forming a State bracket of 48 wrestlers (top 6 from each district).
2016
Districts changed to be held on 2 separate Sundays. Anyone that competes in the first set of Districts and does not qualify for State can enter another District the following week. This results in the best 48 wrestlers in the State Bracket.
