The Erie County Community Foundation in conjunction with the Ohio Athletic Committee is pleased to announce the 2017 OAC Scholarship winners. This year there were 148 applications received with eight student-athletes receiving $1,000.00 scholarships. This year’s winners are Cory Baird, Kyle Green, Christopher Markham, Michael Markham, John Porch, Connor Glock, Morgan McKinney & Nicholas Rand
Cory Baird is the son of Christopher and Renee Baird of Harrison, Cory is a senior at William Henry Harrison High School where he has a GPA of 4.17 and is a member of both the National Honor Society and Student Council. Cory is captain of the Harrison High School’s wrestling and soccer teams. He is planning to attend either Bowling Green State University or the University of Cincinnati and major in Exercise Science.
Kyle Green is the son of Daniel and Jamie Green of Montgomery, Kyle is a senior at Sycamore High School where he has a GPA of 4.20 and is a member of the National Honor Society. Kyle is a four-year member and captain of Sycamore’s wrestling team. He is undecided on a college but is planning to major in Material Science Engineering.
Christopher Markham is the son of Robert and Michele Markham of Dayton, Christopher is a senior at Centerville High School where he has a GPA of 4.28 and is a member of both the National Honor Society and Student Council. Christopher is a four-year member of Centerville’s wrestling team. He is undecided on a college but is planning to major in History.
Michael Markham is the son of Robert and Michele Markham of Dayton, Michael is a senior at Centerville High School where he has a GPA 4.21 and is a member of the National Honor Society. Michael is a four-year member of Centerville’s varsity wrestling team. He is undecided on a college but is planning to major in Marketing.
John Porch is the son of John and Beth Porch of Brook Park, John is a senior at Berea-Midpark High School where he has a GPA of 3.88 and is a member of the National Honor Society. John is a four-year member of Midpark’s wrestling, football, and track teams. He is undecided on a college but is planning to major in Pharmacy.
Connor Glock is the son of Steven and Melissa Glock of Urbana, Connor is a senior at West Liberty-Salem High School where he has a GPA of 3.88 and is a member of the National Honor Society. Connor is captain of West Liberty Salem’s football team. He is planning to attend Ohio State University with a major in Engineering.
Morgan McKinney is the daughter of Craig Day and Elizabeth Hymiller of West Jefferson, Morgan is a senior at West Jefferson High School where she has a GPA of 4.0 and is ranked number one in her class. Morgan is a four-year member of West Jefferson’s cheerleading squad and is a member of the National Honor Society. She is planning to attend Duke University with a major in Pre-Med.
Nicholas Rand is the son of Johnathan and Kathleen Rand of Liberty Township, Ohio. Nicholas is a senior at Stephen Badin High School where he has a GPA of 99 and is a member of both the National Honor Society and Student Council. Nicholas is captain Stephen Badin’s cross country and track teams. He is planning to attend Saint Louis University with a major in Biomedical Engineering.
With over 148 scholarship applications received, selecting only eight was challenging and rewarding for the scholarship committee. We hope that the OAC Scholarship becomes even more known throughout the state of Ohio and that top-notch student-athletes will continue to be helped out in their educational endeavors.
