The
Sandusky/Erie
County
Community
Foundation
in
conjunction
with
the
Ohio
Athletic
Committee
is
pleased
to
announce
the
2013
OAC
Wrestling
Scholarship
winners.
This
year
there
were
23
applications
received
with
five
scholarships
of
$1,000.00
awarded.
This
year’s
winners
are
Ryan
Szymanski,
Jason
Duffey,
Christopher
Ratcliff,
Austin
Clary,
and
Alex
Guerra.
1) Ryan
Szymanski
is
the
son
of
Michael
and
Kellie
Szymanski
of
Curtice,
Ohio.
Ryan
is
a
senior
at
Genoa
Area
Local
High
School
where
he
is
ranked
number
one
in
his
class
with
a
4.0
GPA.
Ryan
is
captain
of
Genoa’s
wrestling
team,
vice
president
of
the
National
Honor
Society,
and
a
member
of
Student
Council.
He
has
been
accepted
to
the
University
of
Toledo
where
he
plans
on
majoring
in
Pharmacy.
2) Jason
Duffy
is
the
son
of
Eric
and
Ann
Duffy
of
Norwalk,
Ohio.
Jason
is
ranked
second
in
his
class
at
Norwalk
St.
Paul
High
School
with
a
GPA
of
4.26.
Jason
is
captain
of
St.
Paul’s
Wrestling
team,
member
of
St.
Paul’s
football
team,
National
Honor
Society,
and
winner
of
the
“Leadership
by
Example
Award”.
He
is
planning
to
attend
Ohio
Northern
University
with
a
major
in
Computer
Science.
3) Christopher
Ratcliff
is
the
son
of
Edward
and
Beverly
Ratcliff
of
Bethel,
Ohio.
Christopher
is
a
senior
at
Bethel-‐Tate
High
School
where
he
has
a
GPA
of
3.8.
In
addition
to
being
a
four
year
member
of
the
Wrestling
team,
Christopher
is
a
member
of
the
Cross
Country
team,
National
Honor
Society,
and
the
Gifted
Education
Program.
He
is
planning
to
attend
Bowling
Green
State
University
and
majoring
in
English
Literature.
4) Austin
Clary
is
the
son
of
Trev
and
Karen
Cary
of
Danville,
Ohio.
Austin
is
ranked
first
in
his
class
at
Loudonville
High
School
with
a
GPA
of
4.0.
Austin
is
a
four
year
member
and
captain
of
Loudonville’s
wrestling,
football,
and
track
teams
along
with
being
a
member
of
the
National
Honor
Society
and
Student
Council.
He
is
planning
to
attend
Malone
College
with
a
major
of
Exercise
Science.
5) Alex
Guerra
is
the
son
of
James
and
Patricia
Guerra
of
Huron,
Ohio.
Alex
is
a
senior
at
Sandusky
St.
Mary
Central
Catholic
High
School
where
he
has
a
3.993
GPA.
Alex
is
captain
of
his
school’s
wrestling
and
football
teams
along
with
being
a
member
of
the
National
Honor
Society,
Key
Club,
and
International
Club.
He
has
been
accepted
to
the
University
of
Cincinnati
and
is
undecided
on
a
major
at
this
time.
With
23
excellent
applications,
selecting
only
five
was
extremely
difficult
and
the
committee
feels
very
strong
about
the
five
scholarship
winners.
We
hope
that
the
OAC
Wrestling
Scholarship
becomes
even
more
known
throughout
the
state
of
Ohio
and
that
the
top
notch
student
athletes
will
continue
to
be
helped
out
in
their
educational
quests.
